Sorry guys : Couldn’t access the internet yesterday. Posting two questions today.

The popular theory regarding how X acquired his nickname is that he did so in his youth, perhaps due to his dark complexion and hair which bore a resemblance to people from the Southern United States. However Tranmere Rovers historian Gilbert Upton uncovered evidence that the name is a corruption of his childhood nickname – a name acquired from his approach to the children’s game of tag, where he would dig his fist into the girls’ back. X?

X =

Answer = William Ralph “Dixie” Dean, the legendary Everton player and the second highest goal-scorer in English football history, after Arthur Rowley. He also holds the record for scoring the most number of hat tricks in English football. Original nickname being “Digsy”

Whats the name of the bridge shown?

Clue :

Answer = This the  White Horse Bridge. It is a  footbridge that crosses Wembley Stadium railway station leading up to Wembley Stadium. It is named after a Metropolitan Police horse, named ‘Billie’, that was used to restore order after the huge numbers of spectators who turned up to witness the 1923 FA Cup final (also called the “White Horse” final) spilled onto the pitch before kick off. The game, the first to be held at the old Wembley Stadium was won by Bolton Wanderers, beating West Ham United 2-0.

And this week’s winner is Kaushik, with 5 points! Way to go! 🙂

A common riddle asked in the UK is : “What is always taken to the FA Cup Final, but never used?”

Now there are two parts to this question :

1) What is the answer to this riddle?

2) Why is it wrong?

Answer = The answer is the “losers’ ribbon”, because the winners’ ribbon is tied around the Cup. This is wrong, because, during the match, both the ribbons are tied around the cup, and after the match is over, the losers’ ribbon is removed.
